Advent Calendar

Advent Calendar

Thrilled to finally share this Advent Calendar canvas package with you all!

Backstory:

I’ve wanted to stitch an advent calendar for a while now and in searching for the right one for me I quickly became a bit surprised when I learned about some of the advents out there - from the size of the canvas, plus the additional 1-25 advent pieces, plus the cost to finish a large canvas and 1-25 small ornaments - wow! Talk about an heirloom project for sure. Despite how stunning these pieces were, I knew for me personally that wasn’t something that was going to be in my future and so I thought...

What do I want? What do I as a stitcher want to see in an advent calendar?

There were a number of things I strongly considered when designing this advent calendar:

1. Size

I wanted something large enough that could be proudly displayed, but not too large that it was going to be overwhelming or intimidating and would take years to stitch (looking at you, full size stockings)

2. Usability

I wanted to be able to use my advent calendar right when I got back from finishing. I didn’t want to have to buy something separate, I didn’t want to have to stitch/wait for other pieces to come back, I just wanted to buy the canvas and have the pieces ready to use

3. Options

While I didn’t want to stitch anything else for my advent calendar, I still wanted the option to be there. So the design had to work with premade pieces, as well as stitched ones. And I didn’t want to have to purchase additional canvases, I wanted to have the option to stitch the pieces also included with the canvas

4. Cost/Value

This one was big. I wanted to bring a high value, fun project, have all of the above included and provide it at a cost that wasn’t going to be too expensive. The goal was to keep it all under $300 (though under $250 would be even better)

With all of that in mind, and 3 years of work - I’m pleased to bring you this Advent Calendar package!

1. Size

This canvas is 10in x 10in on 13mesh. For me, this felt like a very manageable size. Still large enough to display, but not so large that I couldn’t finish it. Great as a basketweave project, but with plenty of space to do decorative stitches (which is how I chose to stitch mine). This size is nice too because I think it allows for a few finishing options. I finished mine as a stand-up/hanging size combo and I’m really, really pleased with how it looks!

2. Usability

With your canvas, you will also get 13 ready to use snowflake advent pieces so that when your canvas comes back from finishing, it is ready to use!

The pieces are handmade in-house by yours truly, and come with the hardware already on, as well as the hooks needed for finishing. We also include a little dust bag to store your pieces in during the off season.

3. Options

Now, if you’re like “but I really want to stitch all my advent pieces, what about me?” I hear you. Which is also why we include a set of snowflake charts with every canvas. The snowflakes, when stitched on 18mesh, will fit in the space of the premade pieces. And the best part? You don’t have decide right away! You can decide later you want to stitch the pieces, you can slowly stitch the pieces over time, and your advent calendar is still usable even when you’re waiting for your stitched pieces to come back from finishing

4. Cost/ Value

With your purchase you will get:

  • One 10in x 10in, handpainted canvas on 13mesh
  • 13 pre-made, ready to use snowflake advent pieces (in a dust bag)
  • Hooks for finishing
  • Snowflake advent chart pack (in the event you wish to stitch your pieces)

Cost: $240

This design was a true labor of love and I am truly so very excited to share it with you all now. I put a lot of thought in to how I wanted to present this project and I really hope love it as much as I do!
